How Great Thou Art

Today I started teaching the song "How great thou art" to our children. I felt it impressed on me to remind them to keep their eyes and ears and hearts open to observe the mighty works of God which display His awesome power and love towards us and how praise and adoration should be our proper response.
Everywhere God has left us reminders of His strength and power and love toward us to constantly encourage us, so we should not be distracted and intimidated by the enemy.

I read Psalm 8 which says that out of the mouths of babes and sucklings God has ordained strength, which reinforces the idea to me that I should encourage our children to recognize God's greatness in aspects of His creation and praise Him for it.

In Romans 1: 18- 32 Paul wrote that God has shown Himself to all people through His creation and to deny God is to willfully suppress this truth that God has revealed to all men, leaving them without excuse.

Gratitude and reminding ourselves continually of all the wonderful things God has made and done for us, are also very important v. 21): Because although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
v. 28: And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things where are not fitting;
We should actively retain God in our knowledge, so that we won't be easily tempted to do things that are wrong, causing us to stray further and further from God, but rather draw ever closer and closer to God by reminding ourselves of His greatness and love and spending time with Him.

The less time we spend with God, and the more distractions we allow in our lives, the more we remove ourselves from His presence and protection, making us vulnerable to attacks and ensnarement by the enemy.

Oh, Lord, Our Lord, we renew our commitment to You and proclaim You as our Lord and thank you for Your love, blessings and protection and we pray for those children of Yours who have started to drift away from you. Help us to be sensitive to recognize them and remind them of Your love, allowing You to use us to draw them closer to You again.
